The Wellington Childrens Foundation has established The Wellington Childrens Foundation Fund with Nikau Foundation, who will begin administering grants in early 2025 with the same funding priorities and intended beneficiaries. In future, applications will be made by means of an application form on the Nikau Foundation website.

The Wellington Childrens Foundation was formed in 1985, having been established from the former Citizens’ Day Nursery which had served the vulnerable in our society for over 60 years. For the following 39 years we forged a steady role as a local institution caring for children through the provision of support to caregivers, educational and recreational groups. In 2025 we are passing the baton to the Nikau Foundation, whose stewardship we have full confidence in and who will maintain the purpose and functions of our foundation’s original mandate, focused always on the needs of children.
